Walt Stacey has been playing music professionally for over 15 years. During this time, he has been a member of many NJ/NY based bands, as well as lending his services as a sideman for several diverse artists. Walt has toured with various artists both in the United States and Europe, visiting such countries as Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Holland and Belgium.
A student of all guitar styles, Walt feels at home playing Rock, Blues, Jazz, R&B and Country, as well as having a love for traditional acoustic music and old-time banjo. "If it has strings, I'll try to play it," is his philosophy.
Walt is currently the guitarist and a founding member of Big Orange Cone (BOC). BOC has been together for a decade and is one of the most successful cover bands on the Jersey club circuit. He can also be heard leading his own group, "Outside Now."
Born in Kearny, N.J., Walt Stacey grew up listening to the guitar driven Rock music of the 70's such as Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Van Halen, The Allman Bros and AC/DC. He got his first electric guitar at age 14 and starting jamming with friends around his hometown. As he developed as a musician, he discovered different elements of music that led him to explore alternate styles, such as Blues and Jazz. He attended both Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass. and William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ. Walt has studied with Bucky Pizzarelli, Vic Juris, Jon Damien and ledgendary Saxaphonist, Lee Konitz. "Music is my life. I look forward to where it will take me. I will try to be a better musician every day of my life."
